The annual Joe Heaney Commemorative Festival of Traditional Singing and Music takes place in Carna Village, Conamara, Co. Galway. This annual event celebrates the life and musical achievements of the legendary Carna singer who died in Seattle, USA, and is buried in his native parish. The focus of this festival is sean-nós and traditional singing in any other language, but there is also plenty of instrumental music and dancing.

A main feature of the festival is the Children's Sean Nós Singing Competition which takes place on Sunday May 7th at 2:00pm at Ionad Acadamh na hOllscolaíochta Gaeilge (H91 W773). Age groups for the competition are: Under 9, 12, 15, 18.
