The ESNS (Eurosonic Noorderslag) music conference and showcase event is taking place this month in Groningen, the Netherlands, from 17 to 20 January. Ten Irish acts will perform at the event, which is attended by over 4,000 music industry professionals.

The Irish presence at the event is coordinated and promoted by Music From Ireland, which is run by First Music Contact.

The Irish acts showcasing this year include post-punk/electronic trio Chalk, alt-pop artist Chubby Cat, pop singer-songwriter CMAT, songwriter Conchúr White, folk three-piece Kingfishr, dance duo Le Boom, Galway rapper Sweetlemondae, indie-pop band The Love Buzz, electro-noise band Yard, and electronic dance artist Yunè Pinku. 

Also taking place as part of ESNS is the annual Music Moves Europe Award, an EU-funded prize that supports emerging European pop and contemporary artists, which offers a prize of €10,000 for five selected winners. Yunè Pinku has been nominated along with fourteen other European artists. The awards take place on 18 January and the public can vote for the MME Public Choice Award, which offers a prize of €5,000 and a recording opportunity for the online series, Deezer Sessions. Previous winners of the Music Moves Europe Award include Dua Lipa, Hozier, Inhaler and Denise Chaila.
