Activate Residency 2023

Activate Residency 2023

Thursday, 13 April 2023, 5.00pm

Backstage Theatre is excited to announce its fourth annual Activate Residency Programme for artists. The programme offers bursaries and short-term residencies to artists across three different strands: Open, Dance, and Young People, Children & Education.

Successful applicants will receive a bursary of up to €5,000 to support the development of their work, access to studio space for one to two weeks, a contribution towards accommodation costs (if needed), technical and administrative support, and artist mentorship.

Additionally, the successful Young People, Children & Education artist will receive a consultancy session with the team at Meitheal: a Branar Initiative, a creative supports initiative committed to the development, creation, and presentation of performing arts for young audiences across Ireland.

Interested artists should send a proposal to admin [at] backstage.ie before 5 pm on Thursday, 13th April, clearly stating the strand under which they are applying in the subject line of the email. The proposal should include a biog/CV, an outline of the proposal (no more than 2 A4 pages), including details of what the artist will be working on during the residency, any other guest artists, why access to space and resources at Backstage would be of benefit, and future plans for the work in development. An accompanying budget should also be included, with accommodation requirements or projected costs itemised separately.
