Sitkovetsky Trio @ West Wicklow Chamber Music Festival 2024
The Sitkovetsky Trio has established itself as an exceptional piano trio of today, with sensational performances in the foremost concert halls around the world.
The Trio’s thoughtful and committed approach have brought the ensemble critical acclaim and invitations to renowned venues such as the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Frankfurt Alte Oper, Palais des Beaux Arts, Musée du Louvre, l’Auditori Barcelona, Wigmore Hall and Lincoln Center New York to name but a few.
Their West Wicklow concert begins with a brooding and powerful trio by French concert pianist and composer Cécile Chaminade (1857-1944), who wrote over 200 works for piano and toured the world to considerable acclaim performing them. Freakshow by contemporary Cork composer Sam Perkin was inspired by the Rat Circus at Fron-goch Camp in Wales, while Tchaikovsky wrote his haunting Piano Trio in A minor in the wake of the death of his close friend Nikolay Rubinstein. It is dedicated “À la mémoire d’un grand artiste”.
