Artist Opportunity: Apply for BABEL Round 3

Wednesday, 3 April 2024, 11.55pm

Baboró International Arts Festival for Children is inviting applications for BABEL Round 3, offering a unique opportunity for artists keen on creating performances for young audiences. This initiative, part of a larger four-year Creative Europe project titled ‘BABEL – The Art of Listening’ (2022–2025), aims to promote cultural citizenship for children and youth, fostering intercultural dialogue and understanding within Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) and the broader Performing Arts sector.

Eligible artists, including but not limited to performers, actors, dancers, directors, and choreographers, must have a minimum of two years’ professional experience, a commitment to the TYA sector, and be willing to collaborate across diverse experience levels. Artists must be based in Ireland, over 18, and not full-time students. Desirable criteria include a passion for collaborative work, international travel experience, interest in multicultural and/or non-verbal communication, and the ability to work in or understand languages other than English, including Gaeilge.

Selected participants will engage in two 5-day workshops alongside a European cohort of 11 creatives, attend two children’s arts festivals, and receive a daily fee of €200, with all travel, accommodation, and festival expenses covered.

Applications close on 3 April 2024. An information session will be held online on 21 March.
