Two Orchestras – One Night
The two orchestras are the Mayo Youth Orchestra and The High Flyers Orchestra.
Mayo Youth Orchestra was established in 1997 to cater for young musicians around Mayo. It now includes over thirty members from eleven to mid-twenties. Led by Anne Moriarty-Martin, the Orchestra is an inclusive group which welcomes all young musicians.
Recent highlights include playing at Áras an Uachtaráin for President Michael D. Higgins, participating in an award-winning film project, and tours to Budapest, Vienna, Lisbon and Tuscany. They regularly also attend the IAYO Festival at the National Concert Hall.
The Orchestra is delighted to share with you some of their favourite pieces. They will play a variety of music from pop and rock to classical, which will have you tapping your feet and dancing in your seat.
The High Flyers Community Orchestra is an amateur, supportive musical ensemble based in Music West in Castlebar. The orchestra rehearses in a relaxed atmosphere, giving musicians the opportunity to learn and play together and improve their musical skills. Brass, strings, woodwind, percussion and guitars are all included.
The High Flyers will play popular classics and easy listening favourites, that the audience will enjoy.
