The BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra (BBC SSO) is seeking a new Head of Artistic Planning.

The primary responsibilities of the Head of Artistic Planning include the development of the orchestra’s artistic programme, managing the production and learning team, and ensuring the orchestra’s output maintains the highest quality across BBC platforms. This role demands collaboration with the Director, Chief Conductor, Senior Management Team, and artistic partners, aiming to craft a programme that engages and expands the orchestra’s audience.

Candidates aspiring for this role should possess a deep artistic knowledge, enabling them to devise and deliver a programme that pushes boundaries and captivates audiences. Additionally, experience in managing a production team, overseeing music learning initiatives, and developing commercial strategies are crucial for the role. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for fostering relationships within the BBC SSO, the wider BBC orchestral family, and with external stakeholders in the music industry.

The role comes with a competitive salary range of £39,390–£49,390, reflecting the skills, knowledge, and experience of the ideal candidate.
