Dublin Concert Band presents
"On the Move"

Brendan Breslin conductor

“Everything in the universe has rhythm. Everything Dances" -Maya Angelou

The human race is constantly on the move. Whether it’s to get places, explore, release tension, seek spiritual enlightenment, express emotion, connect with others, or simply to feel better, we move, dance and groove throughout our lives.

Dublin Concert Band presents a programme of music that seeks out and celebrates the rhythms and melodies of movement and dance across cultures, place and time.

Thierry Deleruylle’s epic Compostela charts a pilgrim’s enlightening trek to Santiago, while Martin Ellerby’s energetic New World Dances recreate the pioneering spirit of a journey of discovery across the vast American continent.

The pulsating cacophony of a road trip on a busy US highway forms the sonic canvas for Travis J. Weller’sMetro Dances, while Malcolm Arnold stays closer to home with his folk-inspired Four Scottish Dances.

Arturo Márquez’s intoxicating Danzón No. 2 whirls us off to the sultry and sophisticated dance-halls of Latin America, but be sure to save a dance for a pastel panther with the grooviest moves of all!

"Supremely exciting...collegial music-making of a very high order".- Michael Ball (Adjudicator, National Band Championships 2023) on Dublin Concert Band
