Sinn Féin Launches Survey of the Arts Sector

Sinn Féin Launches Survey of the Arts Sector

Questionnaire covers topics such as local arts spaces, the work of the Arts Council and the Basic Income for the Arts.

Sinn Féin has launched a survey of the arts sector, which, the party says, is part of ‘developing a policy which Sinn Féin would aim to implement in Government.’

The survey includes nine questions and covers topics such as local arts facilities and spaces, the work of the Arts Council, the Basic Income for the Arts, and current engagement with the arts.

The questionnaire also seeks suggestions on how artists could be better supported, and asks if artist respondents are considering emigrating due to challenges facing the sector in Ireland.

The survey has been issued by Sinn Féin arts spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD

Commenting on the survey, Ó Snodaigh said:

This is the first step in a process aimed at delivering on the commitment agreed by Sinn Féin members at our Ard Fheis in November last year to develop a more comprehensive policy on the arts, covering all aspects of the arts: music, dance, literature, film, theatre, visual arts, spectacle, crafts, functional arts, and everything beyond and in between. We also intend to meet with groups and bodies involved in the arts sector directly, and if you are interested in participating in such engagement with Sinn Féin, please let us know.

The deadline for completed submissions is Tuesday 30 April and additional written submissions are also accepted. To complete the survey, visit https://outreach.sinnfein.ie/arts-survey (English-language version) or https://outreach.sinnfein.ie/suirbhe-ealaiona (Irish-language version).
