Reich Remix

Reich Remix

As part of the Reich Effect, a festival celebrating the influence of American composer Steve Reich taking place in Cork in July, the Cork Opera House is running a competition of remixes of Reich's work.

Update: The Reich Effect Remix Competition has been cancelled. The Journal of Music has been told that the organisers are working on an alternative solution, and that the deadline would be extended for any relaunch of the competition. Anyone interested in registering their interest in a new version of the competition should email reich [at] corkoperahouse.ie.

As part of the Reich Effect, a festival celebrating the influence of American composer Steve Reich taking place in Cork in July, the Cork Opera House is running a competition of remixes of Reich’s work.

Musicians, DJs and producers are invited to submit remixed recordings by Friday, 17 June 2011. A shortlist will be selected by a panel of judges including Jim Carroll, Gavin Friday, Stevie G, Nialler9 and Dónal Dineen. Steve Reich himself will select the winning remixes from the shortlist.

Remixes should be no more than ten minutes in duration, and each applicant may submit up to two remixes. Submitted remixes should not have been previously released.
