Gruff Rhys, Boy Azooga and Lankum for Other Voices Cardigan
Following the recent news of the upcoming Other Voices event in Cardigan in Wales on 1 and 2 November, the first five acts on the line-up have been announced. The two-day festival is the latest travelling event from Other Voices, following Berlin last July and Belfast in June.
Included in the Cardigan line-up so far are Dublin folk group Lankum, who are currently finishing a US tour and will release their third album, The Livelong Day, next month. Welsh composer and musician Gruff Rhys will also perform, following the release of his latest album Pang!, a collection of songs in the Welsh language.
Also announced are synth-rock act Boy Azooga, who took part in the 2018 Horizons project by BBC Wales and the Arts Council of Wales, and English soul singer Celeste, who released a new EP, Lately, this year, as well as three subsequent singles, ‘Coco Blood, ‘She’s My Sunshine’ and ‘Strange’. Electro-pop musician Gwenno, who takes inspiration from both her Cornish and Welsh backgrounds and whose two albums Y Dydd Olaf and Le Kov are both sung in Welsh, will also be performing in November.
The five acts will perform in St Mary’s Church and the concerts will be broadcast live on screens in various venues across the town. There will also be thirty free concerts taking place as part of the Other Voice Music Trail in local venues. More artists and details will be announced nearer the date.
