Hackney Music Development Trust (HMDT) seeks an outstanding musician to lead Choir, Orchestra and Chamber Ensembles for the 2019-20 Season of its Saturday Programme, based in Hackney, which enriches the lives of young people through high quality, exciting music education and opportunities.

The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of our CYMH Instrumental School – leading a combined choir and ensemble class, a Grade 1-3 Wind Ensemble, the Grade 3+ Orchestra, and Chamber Ensemble choir for children aged from 10 upwards. Ensembles incorporate general musicianship including some basic theory, historical context and improvisation skills.

Responsibilities include planning the structure and repertoire for each lesson, arranging music so that it suits the groups involved, monitoring students’ progress, contributing to student End of Year Reports and working with HMDT Music staff to ensure the creation and quality delivery of an agreed Scheme of Work. You should have experience of working with children aged 5-14 in groups and individually.
