Spike Cello Festival 2024: Sea Warrior

Spike Cello Festival 2024: Sea Warrior

Saturday, 10 February 2024, 2.00pm

Saturday daytime events consist of our continued partnership with The Ark children's theatre, with the presentation of a new, multilingual theatre piece by Naomi Berrill.

'Sea Warrior - Maiden Voyage'
Events at 2pm & 4pm

Sea Warrior - Maiden Voyage is an exciting music performance with storytelling based on tales of the fearless Grace O’Malley, (Gráinne Ní Mháille) through music and spoken word. Grace was one of the first Irish female Sea Warriors, and this performance recounts her adventures and life experiences, from those as a young girl to those as a wise woman.

These stories are interwoven with music from cellist Naomi Berrill’s album ‘Inish’, performed by Naomi and her trio. The music depicts courageous female figures, island life, and various moments of joy, grief, love, solitude, strength, and beauty. The drama is brought to life by the charismatic, bilingual Florentine actress Adelaide Mancuso.
