Airneán is the new album release from well-known contemporary Irish instrumental band NOTIFY. It is the third release as NOTIFY but the first with this 6 piece line up of high profile Irish musicians coming from musical backgrounds in Irish traditional, Folk, Avant Garde and Jazz. Well known for their High-Profile collaborations, NOTIFY have invited guests such as Seamus and Caoimhe Uí Fhlatharta, Mark Lettieri & Jason Thomas (4 time Grammy award winners with Snarky Puppy), Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh and Kris Drever to perform and tour with them in recent years.

On this album, the band have made a conscious decision to investigate the possibilities of Sean nÓs songs sitting alongside highly arranged instrumental pieces and have invited Sean nÓs sensations Séamus & Caoimhe Uí fhlatharta and Niall McCabe to sit in as guest vocalists. Also joining the band as guests are long term friend Tyler Duncan on Uilleann Pipes and low Whistles.

While this album does feature guests, the NOTIFY sound is fundamentally unchanged with Pádraig Rynne and Davie Ryan producing the album and focusing on generating a more live sound which can easily be replicated live.

The outcome are eight tracks which move between songs and instrumental pieces with great ease while preserving the traditional nuances expected when performing the oldest of songs.

Airneán is an Irish Gaelic word meaning night visiting or staying up late at night in a social gathering.
