Join Rejoice Gospel Choir for a three-in-one gospel music workshop designed for singers and choir directors alike, facilitated by Carmel Whelan, Naomi Ryder & Ruth McGill.

One ticket gets you access to all three workshops which will equip you with all the skills you need to become a more confident vocalist, choir member, and/or choir leader. Share in this high energy, joyful with fellow gospel music enthusiasts as you learn together in a friendly, welcoming and fun-filled environment.

Workshop 1 - Gospel 101:
- Suitable for choir directors and singers of all levels. Learn how to create an authentic gospel sound. Work on vocal technique, harmony and arranging, and more.

Workshop 2 - Raise Your Voice:
- Everything you need to know to become a confident soloist, from vocal technique to mic operation, worship leading and more. Learn to calm your nerves and get the most from your voice. Perfect for all ensemble singers - even if you have no intention of stepping into the spotlight.

Workshop 3 - Everybody Clap Your Hands:
- Take your choir to the next level. Learn to incorporate movement and choreography to your vocal performance. Move your body with confidence as we focus on stage presence, performance technique and more.

ABOUT OUR FACILITATORS:

Ruth McGill - with a career spanning two decades, Ruth McGill is a seasoned performer and educator, embracing the worlds of acting, singing, and voice coaching. As an acclaimed actress, Ruth has taken to the stages of the Abbey and the Gate theatres where she earned two Irish Times Theatre Award nominations for her performances in 'The Threepenny Opera' and 'FREEFALL'. On screen she has appeared in notable productions such as 'The Clinic', 'Love/Hate', and 'What Richard Did' with recent roles in 'Kin' and 'The Bright Side.'

Ruth is currently a singing coach at The Lír, National Academy of Dramatic Art. Ruth loves empowering performers from all walks of life through singing and voice coaching, fostering openness and self-acceptance in those she works with. Ruth is also a founding member, musician, singer, and songwriter of the multi-instrumental ensemble The Evertides.

Naomi Ryder is a professional vocalist based in Dublin. A versatile performer, Naomi is a classically trained soprano who studied music at the University of Manchester. She grew up singing Gospel & Soul music and honed her craft as a member of numerous prestigous gospel choirs throughout the UK. Today she is a lead vocalist and Assistant Musical Director with Rejoice Gospel Choir. With an extensive performance career Naomi has performed alongside renowned artists such as Edwin Hawkins and Heather Small, and has many TV performances to her name including Dancing On Ice, Sports Personality of The Year and The Late Late Show.

Carmel Whelan is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and musical director from North Dublin. She fostered a love of singing as a member of RTÉ’s Cór na nÓg and went on to study music at DIT Conservatory of Music & Drama, graduating with a Bachelor of Music in Composition. She continued her studies in Choral Music Education with the Choral Music Institute under renowned choral conductor Dr. Doreen Rao and in 2016 she was selected to undertake an internship with Greg Beardsell - Principal Conductor of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and Associate Conductor of London Voices - in association with Sing Ireland and Music Generation.

Carmel is the musical director of Rejoice Gospel Choir and The High Hopes Choir, and former director of both Discovery Gospel Choir & Gardiner Street Gospel Choir. An award-winning composer in her own right, Rejoice’s signature sound is shaped by Carmel’s unique vocal arrangements. Her knowledge of and passion for gospel music is the driving force behind the choir. She has delivered workshops at Cork International Choral Festival, City of Derry International Choir Festival and Gospel Rising where she has shared her expertise.

An experienced performer, Carmel has been fortunate to share the stage with numerous critically acclaimed artists including David Foster, The Script, Colm Wilkinson, Celine Byrne, Glen Hansard, Imelda May, John Sheahan, Westlife, The Hothouse Flowers, David Keenan, Dermot Kennedy, Christy Moore, Ardú, The RTÉ Concert Orchestra and The Savannah Philharmonic in venues including The 3 Arena; The National Concert Hall; Áras an Uachtarán; Bord Gáis Theatre; The Olympia Theatre; Palao de Maricel - Sitges, Spain; The European Parliament - Brussels; as well as numerous performances at festivals including Electric Picnic & All Together Now.
