Judi Jackson @ West Wicklow Chamber Music Festival 2024

Judi Jackson @ West Wicklow Chamber Music Festival 2024

Saturday, 18 May 2024, 8.00pm

Winner of vocalist of the year at the Jazz FM awards, “Judi Jackson has established herself as a compelling live performer and burgeoning songwriter, blessed with a powerful, pitch-perfect voice.” (The Guardian)

Judi Jackson grew up in Roanoke, Virginia, playing piano and singing in the church choir. Inspired by the greats – Betty Carter, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone – her career started to take shape in her teens.

She was just 16 when she opened for Mavis Staples, and two years later, teamed with jazz fusionists Snarky Puppy to record her own song, ‘Only Love’, for their Grammy-winning album Family Dinner: Volume One.

In February 2022 Judi Jackson released her full-length debut album Grace on vinyl and CD. She has since headlined at Notting Hill Arts Club and at the London Jazz Festival. From performing with jazz legend Guy Barker to her recent television debut on Later… with Jools Holland, Judi continues to reach new levels of acclaim.

Judi’s live shows include her own interpretations of songs from jazz greats such as Nina Simone, Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald along with her original soul infused music to create an unforgettable performance.
