Beethoven: Words and Music with Degani Piano Trio and Sylvia O'Brien, Soprano

Sunday, 23 February 2020, 3.40pm

Degani Piano Trio is joined by Sylvia O'Brien in performances of atmospheric Irish and Scottish folksongs arranged by Beethoven himself for piano trio and voice. Poets include Robert Burns, Sir Alexander Boswell, Anne Grant, William Smyth and James Hogg amongst others. The concert opens with the exuberant and rarely heard early Piano Trio WoO38 in E flat major and ends with the mysterious Piano Trio Op.1 No. 3 in C minor which was regarded by Haydn as too revolutionary for audiences of the day!
Join us with Rachel Quinn on piano, Alan Smale on violin and Annette Cleary on cello for an afternoon of 250th Anniversary celebrations of this great figure of European music. Tickets available for 23rd February Sunday at 3 pm at www.nch.ie and Tel: 01 4170000 www.deganitrio.com
