Music in Monkstown: Nathalia Milstein (piano) and Maria Milstein (violin)
Music in Monkstown kicks off this year with a wonderful programme of diverse pieces from the violin and clarinet repertoire. In the first half, set mainly in the 19th century we will hear the music of Schubert and both Robert and Clara Schumann. The outlier in this first half is an interesting piece for clarinet by Shaun Davey. The second half brings us on a 20th century tour from Finland through Russia and back to France. The lesser known Suite for violin by Sibelius contrasted by two much loved pieces by Prokofiev and Ravel. Nathalia and Maria Milstein are both prize winning international soloists and have been performing together as a duo for several years. They have recorded two albums together. It is such a treat to have them perform in our festival alongside our esteemed festival director and clarinettist John Finucane.
