The Lark on the Strand

The Lark on the Strand

Wednesday, 8 November 2023, 8.00pm

Seosaimhín Ní Bheaglaíoch (songs), Charlie Piggott (accordion), Gerry Harrington (fiddle), Peter Browne (pipes).

The Lark on the Strand is a four-person group whose music is a refreshing blend drawn from a deep acquaintance with the Irish tradition – songs, dance music and slow airs comprise their programme and all four are very well known as individual performers with long standing careers in the traditional music world and a wealth of performing experience.

A 19-track CD (The Lark on the Strand – LOTS001CD) of their music was issued in 2022. It was a “find” which resurfaced in an attic during the 2021 lockdown period – a long forgotten tape recording of a live concert twenty years earlier in the year 2000 by the group in Ashbourne Co. Meath.

It was very well received by listeners, received much radio play in Ireland and abroad and has received good reviews:

“…the recording quality and performances are excellent…all well-known artists, this is a delightful and rather unique document of their ensemble playing and singing” The Journal of Music in Ireland (Journal of Music in Ireland)

“…a powerful blast of traditional Irish music from four of the finest…the quality of musicianship and the spirit of these performers…a final pair of reels sets the cap on an excellent album”. (The Living Tradition magazine).

“… exceptional throughout…a very welcome addition to the collection of any Irish music follower…comes highly recommended…” (Mustrad)

Now comes a chance to hear a memorable live concert performance from The Lark on the Strand – traditional music and song of the highest quality from four of the best!
