Syrian flautist Naïssam Jalal’s ‘Healing Rituals’ was an ‘Album of the Month’ rating and was one of The Guardian’s top ten jazz albums of 2023.

Born in Paris to Syrian parents, Naïssam Jalal entered the conservatoire of music to study classical flute at aged six. When she was 19 she left France to seek her roots, attended the Great Institute of Arabic Music in Damascus, Syria, and studied with grand master violinist Abdu Dagher in Cairo, Egypt.

Through the years and across nine albums she has developed a very unique style between East and West. A beautiful flautist and singer who defies easy categorisation, she has performed to audiences across the globe, and has won multiple awards. She has collaborated across a host of different genres, from rap to afro-beat, and contemporary jazz to tango and arabic musics.

Her trio album “Quest of the Invisible” with Armenian/French double bassist Claude Tchamitchian – with whom she performs in Bray – received France’s highest jazz award, the Victoire du Jazz, in 2019.
