NMC Recordings at 35
On Wednesday 3 July 2024, NMC joins forces with Spitalfields Music Festival for a special birthday concert celebrating 35 years of the record label and arts charity.
The concert will take place at The Dutch Church, Austin Friars and features artists including baritone Roderick Williams, cellist Zoë Martlew, National Youth Choir Fellowship Ensemble and award-winning trombone quartet Slide Action.
The National Youth Choir Fellowship Ensemble will perform works by composers Ben Nobuto, Imogen Holst, Roxanna Panufnik and Millicent B James, and cellist Zoë Martlew will play her own work G-lude.
Roderick Williams, together with pianist Andrew West, will perform pieces by Brian Elias, Robert Saxton, Howard Skempton, Roderick Williams himself, and a selection of songs from: Richard Rodney Bennett’s Songs Before Sleep; Judith Weir’s The Voice of Desire; and Hugh Wood’s The Isles of Greece. Williams and West will also perform Flowers and Moonlight on the Spring River from Six Chinese Songs by composer and founder of NMC Colin Matthews.
Slide Action performs Alex Paxton’s ESTAMPIE together with works by Ryan Latimer, Matthew Locke and a specially-commission piece by composer Sasha Scott.
