ChamberFest Dublin 2024

ChamberFest Dublin 2024

Monday, 22 April 2024, 1.00pm

Taking place from Monday 22 of April to Thursday 2 May, this ambitious and student-led festival will be centred in the newly redeveloped RIAM campus on Westland Row, with events in the Whyte Recital Hall and recently restored Georgian Organ Room.

The collaboratively programmed festival showcases the passion for chamber music within RIAM's students and faculty, with repertoire chosen by the groups themselves and curated into themed concerts by Head of Chamber Music, Sarah Sew. Student involvement and self-leadership is at the heart of ChamberFest. From the formation of groups and repertoire choice to organisation, production and marketing, students are involved and mentored at every stage.

Founded in 2019 by the RIAM's Head of Strings and Chamber Music, Sarah Sew, ChamberFest Dublin is rooted in the RIAM's aim to provide full-time students with high-quality and meaningful performance experiences. Speaking about the accessible nature of chamber music, Sew said “Within ChamberFest Dublin, there is something for everybody – whether you are a chamber music connoisseur, a music enthusiast, or have no prior experience of classical music, there is something for you. Music written for small groups to be performed in a "chamber" has, by nature, an intimacy and ChamberFest Dublin aims to demystify the strict conventions of classical music, breaking down the barriers between performer and audience.
