'A riveting story of money, land and secret sex. On the day of her husband’s funeral, Maggie Polpin, widowed mother of four, is now ready to take power into her own hands… but at what cost? Determined to create a better life for herself and her children after the death of her husband, Maggie's vision of the future, however, is not one that sits comfortably with her offspring.'

Cumann Drámaíochta Chois Fharraige is an Irish language drama group re-established 20 years ago with a focus on excellence in drama through the Irish language. Their productions have been seen by audiences on a national and international stage.

They have been successful due, in no small measure, to their work ethic and have proven to date that an audience exists for well produced drama in Irish. Based in the beautifully situated Amharclann Chois Fharraige in Conamara, the group has 25 members both front and backstage. It is difficult to appreciate the amount of work that goes into producing good drama. However, with the level of camaraderie among the group, they have been more than successful in achieving a consistent level of excellence over the past 20 years.

Since the beginning of 2023, Cumann Drámaíochta Chois Fharraige have staged Big Maggie in various locations, including their home base in Conamara, on the Aran Islands, An Taibhdhearc, Galway in Baile Bhúirne in the Cork Gaeltacht and in Gaoth Dobhair, Donegal. It is a real delight for the group to be invited to stage the production in Listowel, the home town of its author John B. Keane, during Seachtain na Gaeilge 2024.
