Conductor in Residence - Cork Opera House Concert Orchestra

Duration: November 2023 - October 2024

Fee: €20,000

The Residency will focus on three pillars of engagement:
Conducting the orchestra for a minimum of 50% of the orchestral programme over a 1 year period (approx. 4 mainstage projects).
Deliver outreach, inclusion and audience development initiatives that will see the Orchestra have more place in the community as well as deepen its relationships with its players and community partners.
Work with the CEO/Artistic Director to develop an ambitious 5 year strategic plan for the Cork Opera House Concert Orchestra as one of Ireland’s leading professional music ensembles.

This role will work alongside Cork Opera House CEO and Artistic Director Eibhlín Gleeson to support the development of the Cork Opera House Orchestra Programme.

Candidates must demonstrate a capacity to undertake the above engagements and sufficient experience to enable their delivery.

APPLICATION PROCESS

A CV (maximum 3 pages), including industry referees.
A statement (max 1000 words) outlining how you would use the 12 months of this residency to influence and develop the Cork Opera House Concert Orchestra’s mission, including a description of how the residency will fit into your professional ambitions and goals.
A maximum of 3 pieces of material outlining your capacity. This can include social media content, YouTube clips, recordings, scores, marketing material etc. Where possible, please also supply a video of you conducting.

Closing Date for Application: Monday 18th September 2023
Candidates will be shortlisted for an in-person interview in early October.
