MESSIAEN Quartet for the End of Time

Building empathy for our planet and its people: This concert juxtaposes a major work from the twentieth century, Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time, composed while Europe was in the midst of the Second World War and the composer was in a prisoner-of-war camp in Silesia, with a brand new work for the same forces by Kurdish composer Hawar Tawfiq, who first came to The Netherlands as an unaccompanied minor and asks questions such as “What does travelling do with us?” and “Where does the fear of change come from?”
