‘Jazz Is...’ Mini-Festival in Dublin

The mini-festival will highlight the wide range of jazz and improvised music that is already happening in Dublin, as well as showcasing bands and musicians from Leeds, Cork and Paris.

"A five-day mini-festival presented by the Dublin-based Prime Collective kicks off on Tuesday, 22 November, in Dublin’s city centre. It continues until Saturday, 26 November.

The mini-festival will highlight the wide range of jazz and improvised music that is already happening in Dublin, as well as showcasing bands and musicians from Leeds, Cork and Paris.

Highlights are Roller Trio (pictured) on Thursday in the Mercantile bar on Dame street — a young Leeds-based trio who have just signed to the F-ire label, based in London, a triple-bill of hard-hitting and funky Irish groups on Tuesday in Sweeney’s bar and Concrete Soup on the Saturday night — an evening of improvised music curated by trombonist Colm O’Hara in the Back Loft, Augustine St. All concerts start at 8pm.

The two busiest days in the schedule are Tuesday, which sees three concurrent events, and Thursday with two simultaneous concerts.
