The Model is currently seeking applications for the position of Curatorial Assistant, (Exhibitions). The role and responsibilities involve assisting the curatorial team to deliver the exhibition programme and supporting the management of The Niland Collection; researching, developing and delivering exhibition tours; the Curatorial Assistant will train invigilators, Front of House staff and volunteers to mediate exhibitions to the public. Good written and verbal communication skills, numeric and computer skills, and an enjoyment of working with the public are essential. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with the ability to prioritise within a team environment, has a responsible, flexible and conscientious attitude and values attention to detail. Occasional weekend and evening work is required and this position requires a high degree of flexibility.

The position will require the following:

• Provide administrative support in the exhibitions department; working with artists, technical staff and the curatorial team to install art exhibitions including painting, sculpture and multi-media
• Prepare artists’ contracts and loan agreements
• Book transport, and oversee packing and unpacking of artworks
• Condition reporting
• Organise travel and accommodation for visitors to The Model
• Maintain The Niland Collection database
• Research and writing information for exhibitions
• Research and developing the collection archive
• Coordinate opening events, book launches, artists talks and other events as necessary
• Research contemporary and collection exhibitions to deliver tours to the public
• Research contemporary and collection exhibitions to provide reference material and training to the invigilation team, Front of House and other staff.
• Monitor items on display
• Devise and monitor opening and closing schedule for galleries – opening/closing where required
• Organizing documentation and records of exhibitions
• Co-ordinate exhibition tours schedules
• This position will require occasional Front of House and The Model Café cover and administration for the management team.
• Other duties as required.

The position is available under the FAS community employment scheme and involves nineteen and a half hours per week. The workweek will regularly include weekends and evenings.
