Sonata in G minor Op. 19

Dublin-born Miriam Roycroft studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester with Donald McCall and Ralph Kirshbaum. Miriam has performed as soloist with the RTÉ NSO and has played many of the major concerti for cello with orchestras throughout the UK and Ireland. She has been a guest leader of the cello sections of the RTÉ CO, RTÉ NSO, BBC NOW, the BBC SSO and the Northern Sinfonia and has also guest co-lead the cello sections of the London Symphony Orchestra and the BBC CO. She has performed at the Manchester Midday Series, the National Gallery of Ireland, the Hugh Lane Gallery, Curtis Auditorium, Cork, the Kilkenny Arts Week, Great Music in Irish Houses, and is a frequent performer at the National Concert Hall in Dublin.

Miriam is Principal Cello of Camerata Ireland with whom she has toured extensively in China, India, North and South America and throughout Europe. Miriam plays on a modern American cello by Grubaugh and Seifert which she commissioned in 2004, and with a bow by Irish bow-maker, Robert Pierce.

In September 2006 Miriam joined the String Faculty of the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin where she was Head of Strings between 2012 and 2015. Her solo, chamber, orchestral and educational commitments now take her worldwide. She has performed and given cello and chamber music masterclasses in the USA, Turkey, China, Poland, Spain, Finland, Ireland and the UK.

Since winning 1st prize at the Tomassoni International Piano Competition, Cologne in 2001, New Zealand born Lance Coburn has established himself as a charismatic performer with an exceptional facility. He has performed with most of the Australian orchestras including the Sydney Symphony and the RTE NSO and WDR Rundfunkkorchester Köln. Lance graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music with the school’s highest honours. He furthered his studies in the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire and the Royal Irish Academy of Music. During his studies, Lance was the recipient of numerous first prizes, including the inaugural Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition, the Australian Young Performers’ Award, the David Paul Landa Scholarship and the Hephzibah Menuhin Scholarship. Lance’s reputation as a chamber musician has grown in recent years. He regularly plays with Irelands’ leading chamber musicians and has performed in many notable festivals. Highlights include The Beethoven International Festival in Bonn, The Dublin International Piano Festival and The Great Music in Irish Houses Festival. Frequently adjudicating in Music Festivals, Lance also gives masterclasses internationally. He is a Piano Lecturer in the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin. Lance is a Blüthner Artist.
