The UCD School of Music is delighted to announce a year-long apprenticeship scheme for young conductors to commence in early 2021. Open to students and non-students, this apprenticeship is intended to encourage the development of an early-career conductor. The successful candidate shall assist in the regular rehearsal and performance schedule of the UCD Symphony Orchestra and UCD Philharmonic Choir, working closely with the Artistic Director of each ensemble; and will be asked to attend all scheduled rehearsals, prepare parts for the performers, lead occasional sectional tutorials/workshops, and ultimately conduct complete works in live concerts or recordings, while also receiving mentorship from the Directors on aspects of score preparation, conducting and rehearsal technique. A bursary of €4,000 is offered. Expressions of interest should be sent, along with a CV/biography, to [email protected] using the heading UCD School of Music Conducting Apprenticeship no later than 5pm on Friday January 15th. Online interviews shall be held during the following week.
