Teach le Chéile
Gael Linn began broadcasting a series of live videos on their Facebook page every Thursday at 6pm. The series is called ‘Teach le Chéile’, where we will visit well-known singers, musicians and storytellers. The series began on the 7th May and to date we have been in Cúil Aodha with renowned musician, Peadar Ó Riada, in Mín an Iolair with acclaimed sean-nós singer Máire Ní Choilm, in Cork with the well-known storyteller, Pádraig Ó Brian, in Ranelagh with Na Casaidigh - Feargus and his two sons, Maitiú and Stiofán, in the Waterford Gaeltacht of An Rinn, with multi-instrumentalist Caoimhín Ó Fearghail and in Ráth Chairn Glas na Mí with Étáin and Máire Ní Churraoin (An Chéad Ghlúin Eile).
On this week’s episode, we will be joined by Lasairfhíona Ní Chonaola from Inis Oírr, Aran. Hailing from a family of well-known musicians and sean-nós singers, she is daughter of the extremely talented writer and poet, Dara Ó Conaola. Lasairfhíona is a highly acclaimed sean-nós singer and composer. She has released her own albums of sean-nós and self-composed songs. She has performed on stages such as the National Concert Hall in Dublin, the Townhall Theatre in Galway and at the Monteraux Festival in Sweden. In 2006, she was nominated for a Meteor Irish Music award.
