Sougata Roy Chowdhury and Rupak Pandit in Concert
The Studio, Quarryfield House, Bunnanaddan, Co. Sligo
An intimate concert of Indian Classical Music featuring two of the finest musicians in their genre.
Sougata and Rupak have performed here before and those who experienced their music were enthralled by their skill and magical performance.
Sougata Roy Chowdhury is one of the finest sarod players of his generation. He is a student of the late Dhyanesh Khan and of Ashish Khan, and also of sitar and surbahar player Pandit Santosh Banerjee. Coming from a family steeped in art and music at Tagore’s University in Shantiniketan, Sougata displays a huge dynamic range from long, sustained slide notes to rapid rhythmic virtuosity, all within the classical framework. He has toured widely across India and Europe.
Rupak Pandit is Dutch-Indian playing in the Benaras style of tabla. He studied with his father Shri Naresh Kumar Pandit, before learning from prominent members of the Banaras Gharana in India. Rupak currently lives in Ireland.
