Piano Quartet No. 1 in C minor, Op. 15
In our first concert we hear music from Fauré’s radiant first period, young man’s music, full of energy and drama. Composed between the ages of the 25 and 35, the programme culminates with his darkly lyrical C minor piano quartet. The song selection includes some of his most famous settings, including “Après un Rêve” and “Nell”. The A major violin sonata is considered one of the masterpieces of his youth.
