Ensemble Musicantes perform music of medieval Europe
Join Ensemble Musicantes (Spain) for a musical journey through the medieval music of Spain, Italy, France and England performed in the elegant surroundings of Rathfarnham Castle's elegant 18th century Ballroom. This is a rare opportunity to see these accomplished musicians performing in Ireland.
Ensemble Musicantes are Jaime Muñoz. Adriana Arias, Jaime del Amo and Wafir Shaikeldin.
Jaime Muñoz is a multi-instrumentalist musician specialising in ethnic and medieval sounds and is a founding member of legendary Spanish traditional music group La Musgaña. He has recorded with and collaborated with a number of musicians including Javier Bergia, Kepa Junkera, Carlos Nuñez, Cormac Breatnach and Bleizi Ruz and has also contributed to a number of film soundtracks.
Adriana Arias (Vielle) has worked with a number of orchestras including the Galician Symphony Orchestra, Madrid Youth Orchestra, Complutense University Orchestra and the Spanish National Youth Orchestra. Adriana currently teaches music to second level students in Madrid.
Jaime del Amo (citole, guiterne, zanfona, medieval lute) has recorded and performed with a number of different music groups, and has performed live in Europe, the USA, Cuba, South America, Libya and Russia. He has also performed as soloist with the Chamartín Symphony Orchestra and with the Teatro Real Orchestra, Madrid.
Wafir Shaikeldin (oud, percussion) was born in Kurdufan and studied at the Conservatory in Khartoum. Wafir plays a variety of instruments including Arabian lute, Sudanese bongos, viola, rabab and a range of percussion instruments. He has collaborated with many musicians and bands including Radio Tarifa, La Musgaña, Hevia and Eduarda Paniagua and continues to explore and develop his interest in a wide range of music.
