Filmmaker’s Choice - Concert

Ireland’s oldest music conservatoire the Royal Irish Academy of Music will mount another collaborative ‘choice’ programme in 2020, entitled Filmmaker's Choice - in partnership with the Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival and the Goethe-Institut Irland.

The Academy will play a selection of chosen musical works of personal significance to Ireland’s most distinctive filmmakers.

Following the success of previous Royal Irish Academy of Music presentations with leading Irish writers, artists and theatre directors, Ireland’s oldest music conservatoire will mount another collaborative ‘choice’ programme in 2020, on this occasion entitled Filmmaker's Choice.

In partnership with the Festival and Goethe-Institut Irland, the Academy turns to a selection of Ireland’s most distinctive filmmakers to nominate musical works of special personal significance to them.

An eclectic mix of musical works have been nominated by distinguished Irish filmmakers including but not limited to:

Niamh Algar - Stephen Rennicks’ “I love you all” from the soundtrack to the film “Frank”.
Mark O'Halloran - Vig Mihály’s “Valuska Werckmeister's Harmonies”.
Neasa Hardiman - Arvo Pärt’s “Spiegel Im Spiegel”.
Tom O'Sullivan - David Bowie’s “Warsawa”.
Clare Dunne - Lyra’s “Mother”.
Alan Maloney - U2’s - “‘Acrobat’ from the Achtung baby.

These and many more will be performed by the exceptional musicians of the Royal Irish Academy of Music on Monday the 2nd of March in the Goethe-Institut.
