Welsh Composers Invited to Submit Work for Composition: Wales 2019

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday 14 November at 10am.

The BBC National Orchestra of Wales is inviting composers in Wales to submit a score to be considered for Composition: Wales 2019 which will take place in January and February 2019.

The project aims to showcase works by composers in Wales worthy of wider exposure and is organised in collaboration with Composers of Wales, Tŷ Cerdd, Vale of Glamorgan and Welsh Music Guild.

For Composition: Wales 2019, BBC NOW is is seeking scores that would work as a concert opener, or for an encore by the orchestra for a concert in Wales, such as St David’s Day, or on an international tour.

Last year’s selected works were: Mosaic by John Senterl; Hard Wired – Mvt II by Lucy McPhee; Concentrations by Gareth Churchill; High Aldons by Ian Lawson; Electric Bagatelle by Luciano Williamson; The Magic Thief by Iestyn Harding; and Blue Lab by Claire Victoria Roberts

The maximum duration of works for 2019 should be 8 minutes, but scores of a shorter duration are also welcome. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday 14 November at 10am.
