Hank Wedel Band / Greenshine
Singer-songwriter Hank Wedel was born in The USA in the 1960’s, grew up in NYC and Mallow, Co. Cork in the 1970’s, lived for awhile in NYC in the 1980’s and 1990’s but is based in Cork City… For those of you who were at Bob Dylan’s B’day gig at the Hot Spot in May of this year, Hank was the main man!
He is well known for his involvement in the live music scene in that city, and, in the past, with bands such as “Princes Street” and “Open Kitchen”, as well as a long-standing Monday night residency at Charlies Bar, Union Quay with mandolinst Ray Barron… Hank has also performed with Irish music legends Kila, Declan Sinnott, Shane McGowan and Bono.
Irish folk-singer legend Christy Moore recorded Hank’s song “Listen”and made it the title track of his best-selling 2009 album on Sony records. In 2012, Hank released a single entitled “Mighty Fine” written and performed by Hank and produced in Dublin by Larry Hogan. “Mighty Fine” was Hank’s first ever release on iTunes It made it to No. 4 on the Irish iTunes singles charts within two weeks of release. Since 2013, Hank has been working live and in the studio with Bassist/Vocalist Supremo Eleanor Healy and other Irish-based musicians and has just released an album of brand new songs recorded and produced in Cork City by Christian Best.
