Short Story Competition
RTÉ Radio 1 invites short story submissions for one of Ireland’s longest established literary prizes, the RTÉ Radio 1 Short Story Competition in honour of Francis MacManus.
The winning three stories will be broadcast on RTÉ Radio 1 from October on the Book On One, with a further seven shortlisted entries broadcast after that. The Book on One is broadcast weeknights on RTÉ Radio 1 at 23:20.
Judges this year have been named as Liz Nugent, Sinead Crowley and Declan Meade.
The winner of the overall prize will receive €3,000, with €2,000 and €1,000 being awarded to the second and third place prizewinners. This year, a further shortlist of seven runners-up will receive €250 each, and all 10 stories will be recorded by a professional reader and broadcast in a season of new writing on RTÉ Radio 1 in the autumn.
