As part of a scheme that commenced in 2019, the UCD School of Music is seeking an Associate Conductor for 2022–23. Open to students and non-students, this post is intended as an apprenticeship for the development of an early-career conductor. The successful candidate shall assist in the regular rehearsal and performance schedule of the UCD Symphony Orchestra and UCD Philharmonic Choir, working closely with the Artistic Director of each ensemble; and will be asked to attend scheduled rehearsals, prepare parts for the performers, lead occasional sectional tutorials/workshops, and ultimately conduct complete works in live concerts, while also receiving mentoring from the Directors on aspects of score preparation, conducting and rehearsal technique. A bursary of €4,000 is offered.
