Just announced: Sarah-Jane Brandon, international opera star and winner of the 2009 Kathleen Ferrier Competition will come to Ireland for one performance only to perform at Waterford, City Hall. She will be accompanied by Gary Matthewman, one of Britain’s most sought after song pianists. The programme will include Brahm’s charming  Zigeuner Lieder based on Hungarian folksongs, Strauss Lieder and songs by Rachmaninov.

Since winning Britain’s most coveted prize, Brandon, a native of South Africa has establshed herself among the front rank of solo artists performing regularly on the world’s major stages. The event is a memorial to Elizabeth Downey, a founder of Waterford-Music Recital Series and sponsored by the extended Downey family.
