Sligo Jazz Project 2013 features Mike Stern/Victor Wooten Band, Dublin City Jazz Orchestra, Kenny Werner and much more...

Sligo Jazz Project has received plaudits for the quality of its combined summer school & festival event, hailed by the Irish Times as "one of the most important events in the jazz calendar", which the Sunday Independent had as its jazz highlight of 2012.

Many of the 2013 Festival acts as always come from the stellar summer school faculty which includes jazz luminaries such as Kenny Werner (piano), John Riley (Drums), John Goldsby (bass), Jean Toussaint (sax) and Marshall Gilkes (trombone), but also added to the fray are top Irish and international acts such as Victor Wooten and Mike Stern (16 July), The Olllam (17 July) and Kenny Werner Trio (18 July). The Dublin City Jazz Orchestra (19 July) return to Sligo with three guests: Ian Shaw, vocal, Jean Toussaint, sax, and Marshall Gilkes, trombone.

The SJP All Stars, lead by Kenny Werner and John Riley, featuring the entire 14 strong faculty, will no doubt give a memorable concert on the Sat 20 July and the festival culminates in a summer school participant concert on Sunday afternoon.

Other acts include David Lyttle's hip hop extravaganza Interlude and vibist Tony Micelli's tribute to the Modern Jazz Quartet.
