Resurgam presents: Tudor Connections
Tudor Connections
Stunning Renaissance choral music in exquisite church settings:
Resurgam Ireland's premier project based choral ensemble presents English choral music by two lesser-known but influential figures of the sixteenth century, Robert Whyte and Christopher Tye. The two composers were related through marriage and both served as Magister choristarum at Ely Cathedral. The programme includes Tye's sonorous six-part Mass Euge bone, interspersed with motets and anthems by Whyte. Performing with Resurgam for some of the programme will be the University of Galway Choral Scholars.
Recent critical acclaim:
"The excellent Irish vocal group Resurgam...directed by Mark Duley...discover Weelkes’s distinctive brilliance, expertly displayed here." (The Guardian)
"...the voices of Resurgam under Duley’s unerringly paced direction make an imposing yet wonderfully sensitive sound, the long lines exquisitely shaped..." (Europadisc)
"Resurgam demonstrate the power and confidence of their ensemble, with bold lower voices and an attractive treble sheen from the sopranos." (Gramophone)
