Two of Ireland's most recognisable ensembles combine to perform Allegri's choral masterpiece: Miserere. The Miserere is a work wrapped in legend and shrouded in mystery, and yet its origins are very plain, it being a setting of Psalm 51:

'Miserere mei, Deus, secundum magnam misercordiam tuam.'
'Have mercy upon me, O God, after thy great goodness.'

The haunting tones of this Holy Week setting by Allegri are unique and instantly recognisable even to those who know little sacred choral music.

The Miserere is accompanied by a reflective programme of music performed by both Ardú and The Palestrina Choir, both individually, and combined. The unique space of St Mary's Pro Cathedral will be in full use as ensembles sing from various points of the cathedral, enshrouding the audience in world-class vocal music.
