Louth County Council present local and community artists in a new theatrical retelling of the life and times of Brigid of Faughart, Co. Louth. Marking 1500 years since Brigid’s passing, this performance combines poetic storytelling, live original music, singing, and dance in a stunning celebration of a towering and beloved figure of local and national significance in Irish history, and folklore.

Script by Anna Simpson (Quintessence), score by Adèle Commins and Daithí Kearney, music lecturers at Dundalk Institute of Technology, who are musical directors. They are joined in the ensemble by Francesca de Nardi (violin) and Davide Forti (cello), well known locally as tutors with Music Generation Louth and for performancces as the Sonas Duo; Sean McCluskey (electric guitar) who is a music facilitator with the Boomerang Youth Café in Drogheda; Daire Stanley (drums) who is a director of the Blackrock Music Academy and teaches in North Louth; Leandro Pessina (flute) a researcher based in Dundalk Institute of Technology; Oisín McCann (uilleann pipes) from Co. Down who has returned having completed his music studies in Scotland.

The solo singers include Jessica Muldrew (also on bass guitar). From Newry, she was a recipient of the Michael Van Dessel Choral Scholarship at DkIT. Lisa McGuinness from Bellurgan is a singing teacher who began her studies with Geraldine McGee in Dundalk.
Karyn McCooey, who is well-known to local audiences through her performances with the Musical Society and who recently starred in the Panto in An Táin. Alan Leech from Drogheda is a well-known tenor, formerly with Chamber Choir Ireland and now the musical director of the Setanta choir, who are also participating.

Hannah Bergin from Drogheda will dance the part of Brigid and the narrator is Gráinne Rafferty. Fiona Keenan-O'Brien is choreographer with additional choreography from Daithí Kearney involving Irish dancers from the Mona Roddy and Dervla McGee schools of Irish dance – Oisín Lennon, Clíodhna Sheridan, Lilly Shields and Emily Duffy – all of whom have competed at the World Irish Dancing Championships.
