Welsh National Opera offers a range of career development and career taster opportunities. Working in collaboration with the DWP and the Jobcentre, and thanks to funding from the Creative Employment Programme, it is pleased to be able to offer a range of 6-month paid Internships starting on Monday 1 February 2016. These internships provide the opportunity for aspiring arts managers to develop their skills in a professional arts environment.

The Finance & Administration Intern will provide support to the Finance and Administration Departments. Day to day duties will include data collection, data entry, processing and analysis, supporting the Finance Manager with employee expenses processing, weekly and monthly payrolls, invoices and purchase orders.  The intern will also have the opportunity to support the administration departments on individual projects.

The Marketing Intern will undertake marketing activities such as print production and distribution, carrying out research and profile reporting and will perform a variety of administrative tasks for the Marketing Department including database maintenance, archiving and filing. 

The Youth & Community Intern will provide a range of administrative support within the Youth and Community Department. Project work will involve contributing to event planning and event logistics, liaising with venues and performers, recruiting participants for Youth & Community projects and co-ordinating and producing a monthly bulletin. Administrative duties will include inputting and analysing project data and maintaining databases and office systems.

The Development & Press Intern will provide a range of administrative support to the Development, Fundraising and Press teams. This will involve administration of donor records, contributing to event planning and event logistics, research & analysis, contributing to fundraising schemes and communicating with supporters.   Administrative duties will include inputting and analysing project data, maintaining databases and office systems. Duties within the Press Department will include compiling information for press campaigns and press invitations, assisting with sourcing press cuttings, handling press enquiries and assisting with the re-organisation of the press archive.

These paid internships are funded by the Creative Employment Programme and are only open to Jobcentre Plus customers aged 18 – 24. All applicants must be in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance and be referred by the Jobcentre Work Coach to be eligible to apply.
