Limerick New Music Ensemble (Dir. Fiona Linnane) presents a programme of work by living composers as part of the 2024 CoMA International Festival of Contemporary Music for All at Limerick City Gallery of Art.

This concert will celebrate the work of composer Derek Ball in his 75th year, including his wildly eccentric The Dining Controversy and the world premiere of his new work for the ensemble - Giant Steps.

LNME originally formed as CoMA Limerick in 2008 as the first International ensemble of the award winning UK based network CoMA (Contemporary Music for All), the group have enjoyed residencies at the Belltable Arts Centre, Limerick and The Hunt Museum, Limerick. The ensemble have performed concerts both locally and nationally, well attended by a diverse audience helping to contribute to the cultural fabric of Limerick city.

The Festival of Contemporary Music for All is a biennial event, bringing together music makers of all experiences and backgrounds with events in Limerick, Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, throughout the UK and online. As a grassroots expression of music making, the Festival provides opportunities for unique artistic experiences as widely as possible, opening a culture of musical participation in contemporary music making.

Supported by Diaphonique, Franco-British-Irish fund for contemporary music, in partnership with the SACEM, the Friends of the French Institute Trust, the British Council, the Institut français, the Institut français du Royaume-Uni, the Centre National de la Musique, Creative Scotland and the Salabert Fondation.
