Rising Harp Stars Concert featuring young harpists Alannah Thornburg and Mary Horgan
Alannah Thornburgh is a multi-instrumentalist from Mayo. She began learning the Irish harp under the expert tutelage of Gráinne Hambly. She has performed in the Irish traditional music scene across Ireland, Britain and North America and has won numerous All-Ireland titles in solo and group competitions. Alannah graduated from Maynooth University in 2016 with a degree in Music and was awarded the 'Music Class Prize' for achieving the best results in her class.
Mary Horgan is establishing her name as a fine young Irish harpist having won the Carolan's Choice prize at the O'Carolan Harp Festival Nobber in 2018.
From Sunday 30th June to Friday 5th July, the 34th International Festival of Irish Harp sees harpers from Ireland and all corners of the world gather at An Chúirt Chruitireachta, Cairde na Cruite’s residential harp festival in An Grianán, Termonfechin, Co. Louth. Alongside a series of workshops for harpers is the very popular public concert series that features a roll call of Irish and international leading harpers including Maeve Gilchrist, Cormac De Barra, Siobhán Armstrong, Janet Harbison, Oisín Morrison, Paul Dooley, Séamas Ó Flaithearta, Triona Marshall and many others.
