The 2024 Cork International Choral Festival takes place this May bank holiday weekend from Wednesday 1st to Sunday 5th May.

Now in its 69th year, the festival brings together singers from all over Ireland, Europe and beyond, and hosts events in over 90 venues including gala performances, competitions, workshops, fringe concerts and free public performances.

Highlights of the 2024 festival include the Fleischmann International Trophy competition and concerts; the Cork School of Music Symphony Orchestra and Fleischmann Choir performing Stanford’s Stabat Mater, marking the Irish composer’s centenary in the Opening Gala Concert on Wednesday 1st; Ireland’s Choir of the Year competition; and performances by renowned choirs such as the State Choir LATVIJA in Cork City Hall, Chamber Choir Ireland giving the premiere of the winning composition of the 2024 Seán Ó Riada competition by Anselm McDonnell at St Finbarre’s Cathedral on Friday 3rd May, and Exaudi performing at the same venue later that evening.

There is also the Afternoons in the Atrium series at the Clayton Hotel; choral performances at the Honan Chapel in UCC, Triskel and the Freemasons’ Hall; and the Cobh Fringe Festival, which will see choirs singing in locations such as St Colman’s Cathedral, Christ Church, and the Heritage Centre.
