Please note:
From September 2024 on, RIAM offers an additional level of AD Group Classes for some selected instruments*, the new level being: “NOVICE”.
Who should participate in “NOVICE” level classes?
“NOVICE” level classes are for Adult learners who would like to learn an instrument, with no previous lessons or experience with the instrument.
Registrations for “NOVICE” level classes will open soon. (with a limited availability of places)
Autumn 2024 AD Group Lessons
- NOVICE level: New learners with no previous lessons or experience with the instrument (bookable for Classical Piano, Guitar and Violin classes)
- Beginner level: Continuing Learners up to Grade 3
- Intermediate level: Continuing Learners from Grade 4 – 6
- Advanced level: Continuing Learners from Grade 7+
Tuition is available for the following classes:
- Cello
- Clarinet/Sax
- Guitar (NOVICE level available)
- Flute
- French Horn
- Piano (Classical) (NOVICE level available)
- Piano (Jazz)
- Singing
- Trumpet
- Violin (NOVICE level available)
(*For instruments/singing with no designated Novice level classes, new registrants are requested to book a "Beginner level class".)

GuitaRIAM Ensemble (Intermediate - Advanced Guitar) - Next registration from June 2024
Join a Group or Ensemble
Share your love of music with like-minded musicians at weekly group instrument lessons with expert tutors. Develop new relationships as you improve your performance skills, learn new repertoire and present concerts with your new group. (Max group size 3 - 5). Course lengths range from 8 to 12 weeks per session, running twice per year (Sept-Dec, Jan-Apr) with opportunities to progress to more advanced classes.

RIAM piano Professor Anthony Byrne's Introduction to the great piano repertoire and pianists of the 20th and 21st century, with guest performances from the Academy's most promising third-level pianists.
Tim Norris examining rock music through its stylistic development, influence, and social context. Guiding course participants in developing basic listening skills as applied to studying rock music.
Upskill with specially designed CPD courses for music professionals
You're a busy music teacher with students to teach and prepare for, a school to promote and run, and a never-ending to-do list. It can be hard to find the time for Continuous Professional Development, yet you know it is essential. Join colleagues from all over the country on short, sharp CPD courses designed to upskill music professionals in the most important areas. Many courses are available on-demand to complete in your own time.
