New Ross Piano Festival 2012
The New Ross Piano Festival 2012 starts today and features Artistic Director Finghin Collins and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra performing Mozart’s Piano Concert No. 20; Croatian pianist Martina Filjak performing Beethoven, Scriabin and Schumann; Mélodie Zhao from Switzerland with a programme of Beethoven, Chopin, Ravel and Liszt; Dimitri Papadimitriou with a concert of Russian music; Hugh Tinney playing a late-night concert entitled John Cage and His Influences; the Storioni Trio performing the Irish premiere of Plainscapes by the Latvian composer Peteris Vasks, as well as Ravel, Beethoven and Smetana; and Fergus Sheil with popular American standards.
