The Contemporary Music Centre’s (CMC) New Music Alive Book I, an online resource for music educators, was published in 2009.

Dr. Patricia Flynn launched Book II in the series on 1 April. The new workbook features a focus on music technology and the basic principles of music composition across its set of eight lesson plans, which have been designed by composer Peter Moran following a series of music workshops led by Moran in Dublin schools in 2010. The composer gave a workshop demonstration of the workbook as part of its launch on 1 April.

The eight lesson plans are described as being particularly suited to primary school fifth and sixth classes, although classes anywhere in the age range of third class to secondary school third year should find useful resources within. All eight plans, with supporting material, are available free of charge from the CMC website here.

The New Music Alive Book II project was funded by Dublin City Council Arts Office Arts Grants 2010.
